Once she answers that question, she has a much better idea how to move forward.

An excellent resource that answers the question how adults or how children can self publish is The Fine Print of Self-Publishing: The Contracts and Services of 48 Self-Publishing Companies--Analyzed, Ranked & Exposed by Mark Levine, (c)2006.

However, the second most important question is: Does your child want to make money on the book or simply to get a book in print?

Anyone can learn how to self publish poetry or how to publish childrens books. That's the easy part.

Making money with your self published book that is work. Many artistic, talented people do not have the desire to do sufficient marketing and sales to make money on their self published book.

I know from experience how difficult it can be to make money on self published books. I ended up giving away over 2,000 books because I ran out of steam in my marketing and sales efforts.

As importantly, I failed to budget any money for marketing and sales expenses. So, even though I sold copies of the book to over 60 bookstores for cash, I needed the money for daily living expenses.

I'll assume your child won't be in that situation, but make sure if you do decide to publish hard copies of her book and want to make money, you set up a budget ahead of time.
